The Funk Cousins
The Funk Cousins (no relation): six silhouettes in afros, each wearing an instrument

Funk bass lines, jazz chords and hip hop beats, topped with the smooth, silky vocals of lead singer Rhiana Roper.

Build a FuJaHop groove

Tap the squares, press play. Four lanes, sixteen steps: the same recipe the band cooks with.

Chord lane plays a D minor 9 voicing. Bass lane walks D, F, A, C.

About the band

A night with The Funk Cousins (No Relation) feels like one of those spontaneous basement parties from back in the day, where the music is infectious, the vibe is electric, and nobody's in a hurry to leave.

Making music together since 2013, The Funk Cousins draw inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists, from Bach and Miles Davis to Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, putting their own funky spin on everything they play.

Their signature sound, which they call FuJaHop, blends funky bass lines, rich jazz chords, and hip-hop beats into a musical experience that crosses genres and generations.

With live performances across Virginia and original recordings on SoundCloud, The Funk Cousins continue to prove that great music doesn't need to fit into a box.

No relation. Just a whole lot of funk.
